Oral Reading Fluency Passage Builder
Paste in a passage, or upload a plain-text file, and get back a print-ready sheet with a running word
count in the margin at the end of every line — the same running total you'd otherwise write in by
hand to score a timed reading.
Some features need JavaScript. Pasting or uploading a passage, printing it (via
your browser's own Print/File menu), and the Save PDF button all work fine
without it — the PDF is built on the server, margin counts included, regardless of
JavaScript, and downloads the ordinary way your browser downloads any file. On this page
itself, though, Auto-wrap mode's margin counts are measured from the rendered
layout and won't appear without JavaScript running (Use the line breaks already in my
text mode is unaffected). The on-page Clear button, drag-and-drop
upload, remembering your last-used settings, editing the built passage in place, and the
text-size buttons also need JavaScript to run — without it, reloading this page by hand
clears the same way the Clear button would, and the passage prints and downloads exactly as
first built. Save PDF's own file-picker dialog (letting you choose exactly where the PDF goes)
is a further JavaScript enhancement on top of that, and only appears in browsers that support
it — everywhere else, Save PDF still downloads the file, just to your browser's usual
download location.
